About us
Yerkratsiner (Earthlings) is an international team advocating for animal rights, for an end to the exploitation of animals, and for an ethical and caring attitude towards them. We started out as a grassroots animal protection initiative and are now officially registered in Armenia as a public organisation.
For the third year running we have been holding educational events and festivals of our own, and joining events run by others. We organise charity film screenings, concerts, vegan days and lectures to help all animals without exception: companion animals, wild animals and those exploited in agriculture. There is plenty of work ahead — taking part in new events, running educational ones of our own, and other important initiatives.
Our mission
We defend the rights of the animals exploited in Armenian agriculture, of companion animals and of wild animals, and we work to end cruelty towards them.
Through advocacy and education we build social practices grounded in care for animals, for the planet and for people.
Our values
Recognising every animal's right to freedom
We believe that all animals have a right to life and to freedom, regardless of their species or their usefulness to humans. Our work is grounded in anti-speciesism and is directed at ending the practices of animal exploitation.
Animals are our first priority
In every decision and every initiative we put the interests of animals first. We work towards the systemic change that leads to an end to the exploitation of all animals.
Our principles
Political independence and openness to dialogue
We are a politically independent organisation and seek constructive dialogue with every interested party, while remaining committed to defending the interests of animals.
Transparency
We report openly on our work, our decisions and our use of resources. At the same time we work to bring into view and to question the practices of animal treatment that remain invisible, making that information publicly available.
An interdisciplinary, evidence-based approach
Our work rests on scientific facts and research. We monitor and collect information on the situation of animals, drawing on experts in veterinary medicine, ethology, ecology and law.
